Katie and Darcy | A Proposal

What makes a couples session even more special? When we can coordinate how to turn it into proposal photography!

Katie had reached out to me in the summer about planning a fall couples photoshoot with Darcy. We were able to select Thanksgiving weekend because we knew everyone’s work schedule would be clear and put it in our calendars. A couple of weeks before the shoot, I saw Darcy and Katie at a wedding I was doing the photo booth for, and Darcy said… “Katlyn I need to talk to you about the photoshoot.” Knowing EXACTLY what he was thinking I had to nonchalantly go on with my evening. Even when Katie selected the “I’m still single” sign and pouted pointing to her ring finger… if she only knew what was about to transpire.

I checked in with Darcy a few days later, and he said that he felt that Katie was on to him, and he might have to change his plans. I told him, no matter what he plans, if I have to hide and be a paparazzi… I will!

But we were able to surprise her! He had his nice “proposal” clothes underneath his overalls while he was working on the bulldozer. And the ring in his chest pocket. I got to the house, and acted all annoyed that Darcy was still working, and convinced Katie to go out to the back part of the yard and go get him.

He got down on one knee after saying some sweet things to her that I couldn’t hear (I always get so excited and nervous for this part so I just hear myself breathing) and she said yes! Her ring is to die for!!!

A week or so before the shoot, Katie and I touched base to talk about what I had planned for time and shots, and if she should bring any props… If you know Katie, donuts are her favourite, so I suggested she bring some donuts. Scroll through to the end, you’ll be glad you did!

I am now booking 2020 and 2021 proposals, engagements, wedding and elopements. Books are also open for boudoir and the photo booth. Contact me to chat more about your day!
